WhoCanFixMyCar has appointed Kevern Thompson as its new chief executive officer. Thompson, who will be taking the reins from interim CEO, David Loy, joins the company after eight years working in software. He brings in a blend of knowledge from across multiple sectors and 38 years of automotive experience. WhoCanFixMyCar is the UK’s largest online marketplace for car repairs and maintenance, helping millions of drivers each year compare prices on repair services from the UK’s biggest network of trusted garages.  Thompson said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the team at WhoCanFixMyCar at such an exciting time for the business. The company is looking to the future, with an experienced team across automotive and technology and a strong foothold at the centre of the automotive repair ecosystem.”

Alliance Manchester Business School

Lou Cordwell has been appointed Professor of Innovation at the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research at Alliance Manchester Business School and special advisor to the president and vice-chancellor. She began her career working for WPP before founding the Manchester-based digital design studio magneticNorth (mN). In 2021, mN merged with Fluxx, creating the UK’s leading design and innovation consultancy, Magnetic,  where she continues to be involved as chief creative officer.

Pete Preston has started a new position as director of operations at THG Ingenuity, which helps brands sell online. THG operates three distinct businesses in THG Beauty, THG Nutrition and THG Ingenuity.

PA Media Group

PA Media Group has appointed Emily Shelley as its new chief executive officer, the first woman to lead the business in its 155-year history. The group is made up of a diverse portfolio of specialist media companies spanning news and information, data, technology, marketing and communications. Shelley, who was formerly MD of PA’s stock imagery agency Alamy and a board member, began her career with PA as a graduate trainee 25 years ago.

She replaces Clive Marshall, who announced his retirement last year after 14 years at the helm and takes charge as PA continues to grow and expand its portfolio of businesses. Shelley said: “When I joined PA as a grad trainee in 1999, I knew this was an organisation where I could build my career.”

Laura Rudd has been promoted to head of SEO and content at award-winning search-driven content agency No Brainer. The Cheshire-based agency recently achieved B Corp status.
