Innovate UK has launched a new movement – No Limits – to help better support innovative talent across the UK.
Indro Mukerjee, CEO of the UK’s innovation agency, visited UTC Leeds to launch the digital platform to an audience at the college and via a livestream.
Speaking alongside Innovate UK CEO Indro Mukerjee was Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire and chartered engineer Yewande Akinola MBE, each sharing their unique insights and calling for the ambitious innovators of tomorrow to take advantage of the support programmes made available through No Limits.
The No Limits platform is designed to address a key barrier to innovation which is the complexity and sheer scale of the innovation ecosystem. It provides a digital marketplace, which connects aspiring innovators to skills, talent and investment programmes from Innovate UK and its many partners.
Users can build a personalised profile and get customised results based on their needs and ambitions. The purpose is to make it easier for people to find the right level of support for their stage of development.
For the UK to reach its full potential and drive future productivity, 400,000 more innovators are needed, from entrepreneurs to engineers. The new No Limits platform is part of a wider talent and skills programme being developed by Innovate UK to pull together partners to help better match people with ambition, skills and talent with the support, advice and funding they need to succeed as innovators.
“We have untapped potential in the UK and we are making it our mission to ensure that people are given the opportunity to build a career in innovation, a career with No Limits,” said Mukerjee.
“By working with our partners, our new and easy to use No Limits digital platform brings together all the support, advice, funding, training, and education opportunities under one roof.
“If we can spark new connections and bring even more talented people with us on the innovation journey, we will be better placed to tackle some of our biggest challenges, to boost economic growth, and shape the jobs of the future.”
Mayor Brabin added: “Here in West Yorkshire, innovative ideas are our bread and butter, from the first ever motion picture to cutting-edge advancements in video games, space travel and cancer treatment. Yet for every success story, there is a brilliant young mind held back from reaching their full potential, whether that’s due to a lack of opportunity, mentorship, money or luck.
“That’s why it’s vital we have an easy to access place connecting all our budding entrepreneurs with the businesses that can support them, as we build a stronger, brighter region that works for all.”
