Marc Schmid is the latest winner of TechBlast’s Star of the Week.
He launched Redmoor Health in 2017 when he was 44 and has grown it into a £2.2m business with 25 staff, including his wife Alison who joined as corporate director.
TechBlast’s Star of the Week is a new initiative for 2022 that picks an entrepreneur or entrepreneurs who have most impressed us in the previous seven days.
Under Schmid’s leadership Redmoor Health has grown from providing training to care homes in using remote video consultation technology to working with commissioners to redesign services.
This week he and his wife announced a £450,000 investment in the creation of a new agency called Redmoor Creative after constant requests from clients for marketing and PR support.
The Redmoor Group has now become a trusted partner of the NHS as it looks to grow to £5m turnover by 2024.
Last year the company moved to Strawberry Fields Digital Hub in Chorley on the back of a series of high profile client wins.
Schmid said: “I’m honoured to have been chosen as the latest TechBlast Star of the Week although I see it as very much a team effort.
“Three years ago Redmoor was predominately working in Lancashire, Staffordshire and a little bit in Yorkshire and Cumbria but now we’re working across the UK.”
Inspired by tragedy
In a moving interview with TechBlast, Schmid revealed how it was thinking about his late sister Marie, who was killed in a car accident at the age of 15, which finally convinced him to take the plunge and go into business at the age of 44.
“You only live once and you never want to look back with regrets so I had to launch Redmoor,” he said.
TechBlast will publish the full list of 50 Stars of the Week at the end of the year.
Key criteria that the judges are looking for include growth, overcoming adversity and authenticity.
TechBlast’s editor Jonathan Symcox said: “Redmoor’s story is inspirational. The company is completely bootstrapped and has an excellent reputation across the NHS.”
To be considered for the Star of the Week award, entrepreneurs must be prepared to be interviewed by TechBlast. To nominate someone email [email protected].
