Can you tell the difference between a poisonous investor and a good investor?
That’s the subject of the first ‘CATCH 22 UNLOCKED’ event organised by Manchester-based recruitment firm Sanderson and TechBlast on April 18th.
Raising investment is one of the biggest Catch-22 scenarios facing a business.
Hiring the best teams and building the game-changing products all costs money so how can a bootstrapped business be expected to navigate the investment minefield?
‘Investors & entrepreneurs told me to leave Leeds for London’
Choose the right investor and it can make your business but pick the poisonous one and it can break you.
Seven entrepreneurs and investment experts have already been confirmed as speakers for the business breakfast on April 18th.
Speakers include Ste Senior, of Manchester-based baby tech firm, Aibytech, which raised £1.2m from an investment group based in Dubai in 2023 and Russell Teale, CEO of tech-for-good platform Vivify, which has raised £1m in investment.
They’ll be joined by Sam Royle, co-founder and CEO of SoSquared, which connects brands with influencers, and Glyn Powditch, co-founder of Dream Agility.
The second panel is made of investors and investment experts.
They include award-winning Elizabeth Gooch MBE, who is a coach, mentor and board adviser to tech startups and scaleups. In 2017 she sold her Staffordshire-based back office software supplier EG Solutions to US tech group Verint for a bargain £26.3m.
She’ll be joined by David Levine, principal at Manchester Angels, and Laura Sissons, investment manager at YFM.
The event will be hosted by Chris Maguire, executive editor of BusinessCloud and TechBlast.
