A round-up of  some of the key appointments by technology companies, investors and business support services in the last week:

Agilitas IT Solutions

Nottingham-based technology hardware specialist Agilitas IT Solutions, the leading global channel services provider, has appointed Sara Wilkes as chief operating officer. She’s previously held roles at Computacenter and SCC. Speaking on her new role, Wilkes said: “I am joining Agilitas at an exciting time, as the business looks to truly transform its customer experience. I have worked closely with the Agilitas team for several years and I’m looking forward to becoming a part of the company’s transformation journey now and in the future.”

Nuclera

Nuclera, the pioneer in bringing rapid protein prototyping to the benchtop, has appointed Jonathan Milner as the non-executive chairman of the board of directors. He was previously the founder and former CEO of Abcam – the eCommerce company specialising in antibodies. The firm expanded to become one of Britain’s most successful biotechnology companies and it was recently acquired by Danaher, the US conglomerate, for $5.7bn. He will work closely with co-founders Dr Michael Chen, Dr Jiahao Huang and Dr Gordon McInroy.

Guild Esports

Guild Esports, a global gaming-focused media business, has announced Paul Kingsley as  chief financial officer and company secretary. Kingsley is a seasoned CFO with over 25 years’ experience working across the media, technology, retail, and sports sectors. Over the last four years he worked as the CFO of UNiDAYS, the world’s largest student affinity network.

Orbex

Scottish SpaceTech Orbex has appointed Phillip Chambers as its CEO and Miguel Belló Mora as its executive chair. Chambers joins with more than two decades of experience in building innovative companies, scaling technology platforms for some of Europe’s most successful startups, including Gumtree, Peakon (acquired by Workday) and Qype (acquired by Yelp).  Belló Mora most recently held the role of director general of the Spanish Space Agency and commissioner for the Aerospace Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE), where he oversaw a €4.5 billion programme for the Spanish aerospace sector.

IOTech

IOTech, the leader in open edge computing, has appointed Intel veteran Brad Corrion as its chief technology officer and will be responsible for guiding research and development efforts to drove innovation. Corrion is a 26-year veteran of Intel.

Fairmont Recruitment

Experienced tech recruitment specialist Manjinder ‘Manny’ Mann has joined Manchester-based Fairmont Recruitment. He joins as the new director of recruitment, having held a similar role at another Manchester recruiter, Maxwell Bond, for just over three years. Jack Donohue, CEO and founder at Fairmont Recruitment, said: “For us he’s a bit of a marquee signing and can help us take that next step up the ladder.”

Appointments round-up: FinTechs bolster exec teams

Ex-Deloitte director Jonathan Sharp has joined forces with Mick Morris to launch corporate finance boutique Celelo Advisory to provide advice to high growth, technology and gaming companies across the UK regions.

Northern Gritstone

Northern Gritstone, the investment business focused on science and technology-enabled businesses in the North of England, has appointed Jess McCreadie as investment director. She joins from Octopus Ventures.

Apitude Software

Sian Ciabattoni has taken on a new role of VP of global marketing at Apitude Software. She’s previously worked as marketing director EMEA at Noble Systems.

N Brown Group

Clare Empson has started a new position as director of supply chain at N Brown Group having previously spent 25 years at Ted Baker.

Marsden Strategy

TalkTalk’s former head of engagement Helen McHugh has launched Marsden Strategy, a consultancy set up to help organisations to maximise the potential of their place-based strategies. Prior to founding Marsden Strategy, she worked as head of engagement and CSR for the Salford Quays-based telecoms business TalkTalk where she raised the profile and regional impact of the business.

I-COM

Manchester-based digital marketing firm I-COM has announced the appointment of new managing director Ravi Bhalla. He took over the role in from Mike Blackburn who had held the position since 2006. Bhalla himself is a founding member of the I-COM team and moves to the MD position role from his previous position as technical director.
